A New York City man who died after an overnight trip to New Jersey on a flight from Toronto has been found dead inside a hotel, the New York Police Department said Monday.
Police said Anthony Hays died from multiple blunt force injuries, including two to his head, in the hotel room he shared with his family.
A coroner’s office investigation found that Hays had suffered a concussion and had taken several sleeping pills prior to his death, according to a statement.
The statement from the NYPD said officers were dispatched to the Hilton New York on Saturday night to conduct a welfare check.
Hays, 28, was found unconscious inside a room that was partially filled with water.
The New York Daily News reported that officers found Hays unconscious on the floor of the hotel’s hotel room.
Hay had gone to New Orleans to visit family.
The hotel’s statement said the incident was being investigated by the New Orleans Police Department.
A police spokesperson told ABC News the New Jersey Department of Homeland Security and the New Yorkers Emergency Management Agency are assisting with the investigation.
Police had no additional information.

Haya, who lived in Toronto, was a Toronto native who attended the University of Toronto.
